Our warmest congratulations go to HAS graduate student Justin Headley, recipient of the 2024 College of Science Graduate Teaching Award!

Each department within the College selected their best Graduate Teaching Assistant for college-wide honors in May, and Justin received not only the HAS Department Award, but also the top "best of the best" honor among all the departmental nominees.

Justin's graduate advisor, Dr. Jen McIntosh writes:  "This is an impressive honor in recognition of his truly lasting, positive impact on our program."

"As an undergraduate at UArizona, Justin voluntarily developed new lecture materials in his spare time to extend learning opportunities for his peers in courses across campus."

"As a graduate student in HAS, he has served as a formal teaching assistant for two courses and an informal TA in every class he has taken. Justin voluntarily developed multiple, new lectures and lab experiments and held additional office hours for HWRS 417/517. These supplemental activities were truly creative and elegant, greatly extending course learning outcomes and challenging students to critically think."

"As a TA for HWRS 170, Justin created a new “crash-course” in Excel and statistics to better prepare students for their final project."

Congratulations, Justin, for such inspiring work! Well done!
